Sri Sita Rama Lakshmana idols reached Ramatirtham

Sri Sita Rama Lakshmana idols, sculpted in Tirumala, have been sent by special vehicles to Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Ramatirtham in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. Priests and authorities of the temple received the idols amidst security by police. The idols have been sculpted out of Krishna shila, a black stone in Tirumala, and they have been received by performing appropriate rituals.

After they have been carried in a procession, the Murtis have been placed in the main temple where they will be consecrated and regular Pujas will be performed from today. Authorities of Devadaya and TTD sculptors made necessary changes to the idols 10 days ahead of the stipulated time.

On the other hand, the desecrated idols of the Ramatirtham temple have been shifted to the Balalayam in the same temple complex.

The Murthis of Ramatirtham temple were vandalised on Dec 28, 2020, and the decapitated head of the idol of Lord Rama was found in a nearby tank. The incident sent shockwaves across the country and the world.

Meanwhile, AP Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas Vellampalli announced that the Ramtirtha temple will be restored within a year.
