Seven arrested for attempting to provoke religious tensions

Seven people were arrested by the Police under Rachakonda Commissionerate limits on Wednesday in connection with an incident that led to religious tensions in Hyderabad city. The details of the incident that took place on Tuesday night are as follows.

The main accused in the case, Mohammad Yusuf and Mohammad Ismail, are father and son, while Mohammad Yusuf runs a beef business in the Bhavani Nagar area of ​​Hyderabad. His son Mohammad Ismail helps him. In this respect, the accused bought some cattle and calves in Nalgonda district on Tuesday morning.

They were then smuggled into Hyderabad in a TS07 UE5570 numbered Bolero vehicle without permission, and at around 7:30 p.m., a student named Koti Mayuresh spotted them at Gayathrinagar near Mirpet, outskirts of Hyderabad and asked them to stop the vehicle.

As the accused refused and fled at high speed, Mayuresh along with his friends chased the accused in an Innova vehicle and forced them to stop. The two accused then got out of the Bolero vehicle, severely abused the young man and tried to attack with deadly weapons.

To save themselves the youths took shelter in the nearby Hanuman temple at Karmanghat. Then the accused along with others too reached the premises of the Hanuman temple with iron rods and swords.

Tensions have developed with the incident as local Hindus gathered in heavy numbers staging a protest over the incident at Hanuman shrine. The police who came to assess the situatation too were injured in a stone pelting by the Muslim when they tried to pacify them.

With the deployment of additional police personal and midnight patrolling the troubled areas and constantly monitoring the situation the situation came under control. The police urged the public to exercise restraint and not to spread any false information through social media. Later police arrested
7 members in connection with this incident.

The other four accused in the case, Sohail, Sohel, Hussain and Akbar, are absconding. All the arrested accused were produced before the court and remanded. The youths, who were critically injured in the attack, are being treated at a hospital. The seized cattle were handed over to the Yuga Tulasi Foundation.
